Just over two weeks ago, my youngest turned two! Given that we just moved countries I thought it would be a birthday celebration without a theme, without guests, just the four of us plus grandpa and his partner who came to visit. However, a week before the 12th September, it suddenly made so much sense to have a TWO the moon galaxy themed birthday, as I keep telling my little one that I love her to the moon and back.

I had a couple of days left to come up with a cake recipe, with birthday decorations, both purchased and self-made. I organised wrapping paper, napkins, a cake topper, candles, a garland, foil ballons….All blue and silver, with a hint of pink and purple. I loved the outcome so, so much. It was one of the most impressive birthday tables I have created for my kids so far, although it was the one I had planned the least.

We had so much fun celebrating my little daughter, who seems to love birthdays as much as I do. She kept singing Happy Birthday for herself, played with the ballons, ate the entire cake decoration by 7am, and was excited for each of her birthday presents. It was the cutest to watch her, to be able to spend this special day with her.

I will remember this day forever, and I am obviously happy I got to take beautiful images, too.

If you plan to create your own TWO the moon birthday celebrations, have a look at my Pinterest board, where I have saved every item I have purchased, printed to then cut and glue it or baked.

In terms of the cake, I made a simple vanilla sponge cake, a recipe by Cynthia Barcode from her book “Let’s bake“. Regarding the butter cream frosting and decoration, I followed this Galaxy cake recipe by Baran bakery, and I loved it! She has a Youtube video, in which she demonstrates the steps to create the galaxy look, and I found it very helpful!

I hope you get inspired by my pictures, the Pinterest board and cake recipe. On Instagram, I have posted a couple more insights here, here and here

Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I am happy to answer them!

Love,
Lea Lou
